We left the marina at Blind River on Wednesday the 12th after visiting the Timber Valley Museum and Art Gallery. The gallery had both local artists and local Indigenous artists. It seems to me, and this is a broad generalization, the local artists tend to photograph or paint landscapes. The First Nation artists tend to paint birds and animals. It is common enough that you can tell from a distance from whose hands, mind and heart the artwork was conceived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We headed to Turnbull Island, but there were several other boats already anchored.\u00a0 We backtracked to Sanford Island and saw that the \u2018best\u2019 spot was occupied, but if we dropped near a point of land in about 20 feet of water we would be okay. Protected from the west, and pretty wide open north and south, we had amazing views to the northern shore of the mainland, and to the south lay the north channel itself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Loons were near our boat, and we thought we\u2019d hear them in the morning. The night was dark, a new moon, and the nearest lights were our anchor lights.\u00a0 The Milky Way was clearly visible at three o\u2019clock in the morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We headed towards Bear\u2019s Butt Bay once again, sort of doing a familiar places tour.  We opted for a different spot to drop anchor as we had the pick of the entire bay. Tucked in near the eastern shore, behind a big rock to our south, we are surprised to be the only boat here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have some weather coming, shifting winds and rain, that will probably keep us here for two or three nights, and then we will work our way south again to Manitoulin Island, and Gore Bay for a marina stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are finding these anchorages, with forests seemingly growing right out of the rocks, to be our favorites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The glitter path towards the afternoon sun sparkles, and we stand near the bow and sweep our eyes in every direction, we can\u2019t help but feel heartfull, and gratitude for just being here to experience this glorious nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
