We are Harold and Marcia Beer, and we own this 2007 Catalina 350 as our forever boat. We got it specifically to sail the Great Lakes as a sailboat that we can manage as we age. The mainsail furls into the mast, and the foresail has roller furling, so we don’t need to leave the cockpit to get under sail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That means, unless something goes wrong, we are only on deck during docking or anchoring – times when it is relatively calm. Our safety is important to us as we are not as young as we used to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have grouped our blog posts into three main categories: People, the people we meet on our journeys; Ports of Call, the places we go; and Reflections, our thoughts and feelings along the way. Where we think they overlap, we’ll put them in multiple categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
